Holy Guacamole! This is a traditional recipe for guacamole…and is irresistible. The Lola Cruz Mysteries have a huge food theme. Abuelita’s is the family restaurant, and Lola’s mother shows her love through the food she cooks. Guacamole is one of those decadent, yet healthy snacks and condiments. It doesn’t last long in our house!
2 cloves garlic
4 green onions
1/2 red or white onions, chopped
1-2 serrano chile peppers, roasted, cleaned, and minced
1 tsp salt
Juice from 1 lemon or lime, to taste
Roast tomatoes and chiles on an open flame or in a frying pan. I use a frying pan. Meanwhile, peel and smash avocados. Add all chopped ingredients and lemon and salt. Mix together. Chop roasted chiles and tomatoes. Add to mixture.
Serve as a dip with tortillas chips or as a condiment with your meal. Delicioso!
In a hurry? I often make pico de gallo, smash a few avocados, and add a bit of the pico. Instant guac!
